Israel expanded the conflict on October 1 this year by launching a ground offensive into southern Lebanon.

Unknown combat drones target 2 US bases in Syria

Unknown combat drones have attacked two US military bases in Syria, local sources report.

A US military base in the Al-Omar oil field in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria was attacked by several kamikaze drones on Sunday night, local sources told Anadolu Agency.

Sirens sounded near the military base and US warplanes flew over the area, the sources added.

Later, US troops stationed at the base shelled the villages of Khusham, Al-Jafra, Al-Huwaijah, and Al-Mari’iyah, located west of the Euphrates River, where Iranian-backed groups are believed to be based.

Deir ez-Zor is under the occupation of the US-backed PKK/YPG terrorist organisation, while the city centre and other rural areas are under the control of the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad and Iranian-backed groups.

Meanwhile, the US military base of Al-Tanf, located near the Jordanian-Syrian border in southeastern Syria, was also targeted by drone attacks.

Anadolu correspondent reported that US air defences shot down several drones while others struck the base. No casualties have been reported. The US has not yet issued a statement on the attacks on the two bases. Unknown armed groups, likely backed by Iran, have been targeting US bases in Syria with drones and missiles in recent months.
