20-year-old US exchange student raped in supermarket car park in Milan

A young college student was allegedly raped in a supermarket car park near the famous Alcatraz nightclub in Milan by an Egyptian man, Daily Mail reported.

The victim, a 20-year-old student from the US, a participant in the European Union’s student exchange programme (Erasmus), was crying out for help after the alleged rape in the early hours of Saturday morning when she was spotted by bouncers at the nightclub and alerted authorities.

She reportedly met the suspect at the club and had a few drinks before being taken to the car park of nearby supermarket Aldi and sexually assaulted. At around 2am local time, the victim’s screams were noticed by passers-by who reported the matter to Alcatraz security.

The woman was subsequently transported to the Mangiagalli Clinic, which specialises in detecting signs of violence, and is in a stable condition.

The suspect, who has not been identified, is an Italian college student of Egyptian origin with no previous criminal record, La Repubblica reported.

Silvia Serafina Sardone, a member of the European Parliament, expressed her shock with the alleged attack: “Another rape took place tonight in Milan, in Via Valtellina, where a girl was raped by a boy of foreign origin. By now it is a custom, unfortunately in the total disinterest of the mayor and the PD who administer the city.”

Last week, a group of Egyptian migrants in Catania on the Italian island of Sicily allegedly dragged a 13-year-old girl into a public toilet. Two of the migrants – both minors – raped her for half an hour while the rest of the gang allegedly held her desperate boyfriend down and forced him to watch the horror unfold.

The number of illegal migrants in Italy rose 50 percent last year compared to 2022, according to the Interior Ministry.
