The 41 illegal migrants arrived in Cyprus on Thursday evening on two boats, Cyprus Mail reports.
The boats were spotted by police radar about 12 nautical miles south-east of Cape Greco, two hours apart. There were 23 people on board the first boat, including 19 men, two women and two children, one of whom was unaccompanied by an adult.
There were 18 people on board the second boat, including 15 men and three unaccompanied children. Those on board both boats were taken to Ayia Napa Marina. There, special services recorded their details and then sent the migrants to the Pournara reception centre.
Police also said that the 17-year-old migrant accused of driving the boat was arrested and is due to appear before the Famagusta District Court.
