A shooting has occurred near a local school in the Swedish city of Örebro, Swedish police said on Tuesday.
Emergency services arrived at the Risbergska school in the town of Örebro, 200 kilometres west of Stockholm.
Law enforcement officials initially reported four people injured, but the number has now risen to five. Police officers are among the injured.
“It has been confirmed that five people have sustained gunshot wounds,” the police said in a statement.
Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer commented on the attack, saying:
“The information about violent behaviour in Örebro is very serious. Police are already on the scene and the operation is well underway. The government is in close contact with the police and is closely monitoring developments.”
