500,000 Palestinians newly displaced in Gaza since Israel shattered ceasefire

The Gaza Health Ministry reported on Friday that 1,978 people have been killed and 5,207 wounded since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas broke down this year.

Israel kills nearly 2,000 in Gaza from March

According to the Gaza government news agency, more than 61,700 people have been killed and 117,248 wounded since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza.

More than 60 people have reportedly been killed in Gaza since Thursday, and the death toll continues to rise as Israel continues to strike Palestinian territory.

Gaza’s healthcare system has been devastated since the start of the military campaign launched in response to the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

The medical director of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, Khalil al-Dakran, warned that Gaza has entered the most critical stage of malnutrition as a result of the ongoing Israeli blockade.

The Gaza Ministry of Health also announced that 37 of the 38 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are currently not functioning.

As a result of the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, 1,200 people were killed and 251 hostages were taken to Gaza. Since then, according to health officials, Israel has killed more than 61,700 Palestinians.

Half a million newly displaced in Gaza as livable space shrinks under Israeli orders: UNRWA

According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), nearly 500,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced in the Gaza Strip over the past month as a result of ongoing Israeli army attacks.

“Over the past month, around half a million people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip,” UNRWA said in a statement.

“Numerous expulsion orders issued by the Israeli military leave Palestinians with less than a third of the Gaza Strip to live in,” the agency said, warning that “the remaining space is fragmented, unsafe and virtually uninhabitable.”

UNRWA added that “overcrowded shelters are in dire condition, service providers are struggling to continue operating, and the last remaining resources are running out.”

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defence minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel will also face the International Court of Justice for genocide in connection with the war against the enclave.
