Google and Microsoft’s rankings dropped significantly on Glassdoor’s list of the 100 best companies to work for in 2024.
Google, Meta, Zoom and Zillow’s rankings dropped due to layoffs, long hours and poor management, according to reviews on Glassdoor.
Google’s ranking dropped from No. 8 to No. 26, and Microsoft’s from No. 13 to No. 18, according to the stats.
Companies like Meta, Zillow and Zoom did not manage to make the list at all for the second year in a row. Last year, tech companies laid off more than 260,000 employees, according to online tracker layoffs.fyi. In the first nine days of 2024 alone, the sector laid off more than 2,000 workers.
Apple, by contrast, came in at number 39 on the list after being absent from it last year.
The company had fewer layoffs compared to other firms. Chipmaker NVIDIA came in at number two. Bain & Company came in at number one.
