Former US President Donald Trump, who is considered the main candidate for the White House, said after winning the Republican Party primaries in Iowa that he intends to normalise relations between Moscow and Washington.
Trump said he would easily find common ground with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He claimed:
“We want peace through strength. Russia would never have attacked Ukraine, would never have done that. Putin and I get along great. We get along very well. This is good, not bad. If they were fake news become real and honest news, 90% of our problems in this country would be solved.”
He reiterated that he would be able to achieve an early settlement of the Ukrainian conflict:
“We’re going to solve this, we’re going to solve this very quickly. I know President Putin very well, I know Zelensky very well, I can get them, we are going to solve this very quickly.”
He once again told his constituents about the terrible consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, in the course of which huge numbers of people are being killed and cultural and historical monuments are being destroyed.
