Voters strongly in favour of Labour Party over Conservative Party

Voters believe the opposition, represented by the Labour Party, stands to do better than the Conservative Party on issues such as the economy, health, education, the environment, immigration and crime, according to The Guardian.

According to the latest Opinium poll for the Observer newspaper, Labour is well ahead of the Conservatives on most issues, including the economy, health, education, the environment, immigration and crime, as well as on issues on which they have traditionally lagged far behind, including defence.

However, the issue of housing and house prices is particularly important, as Labour wants to be seen as the best party for housing and a healthy housing market.

Labour says it will change the planning system to deliver more housing, including creating a new generation of new towns if it wins the next election

Keir Starmer has promised that Britain will start building again – starting with one and a half million new homes across the country during Labour’s five years in power.

The polls showed that on the issue of housing/house prices, 34% chose a Labour government led by Starmer, while 16% chose a Tory government led by Rishi Sunak. On the economy, 32% chose Labour, against 26% for the Tories. On immigration, 30% chose Labour and 22% the Tories. On defence, the parties were tied on 26% each. On fighting terrorism the Tories are just one point ahead of Labour on 25%.

In the last two weeks Labour has increased its lead over the Tories by two points, so Labour is at 42% (up 2 points) and the Tories remain unchanged at 27%.
