Portuguese Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho expressed grave concern on Thursday over the Israeli army’s killing of civilians waiting for aid in Gaza and called on Israel to respect interim measures ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Deeply shocked by the death in Gaza of over 100 people while waiting to receive aid.
Earlier on Thursday, Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid at the Al Nabulsi roundabout on Al Rashid Street, killing at least 104 Palestinians and wounding 760, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
“We call again for an urgent immediate ceasefire & for safe access to humanitarian aid, in compliance with ICJ provisional measures.”
Israel launched a military offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by Palestinian group Hamas on 7 October that killed about 1,200 people, Tel Aviv claimed.
Meanwhile, at least 30,035 Palestinians were killed and more than 70,457 injured amid widespread destruction and a shortage of basic necessities, Gaza’s health ministry reported.
Israel faces genocide charges at the International Court of Justice. An interim order issued in January demanded that Tel Aviv stop acts of genocide and take measures to guarantee humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.
