King Charles III and Queen Camilla will attend an Easter service at Windsor Castle Chapel on Sunday, Buckingham Palace officials said.
The event will be the first major one for Charles, 75, since he was diagnosed with cancer in February.
Officials said Tuesday that Charles and Camilla, accompanied by other members of the royal family, will attend Sunday’s Easter service at St. George’s Chapel.
Charles and Camilla will go to the Easter Mattins Service – as it is officially known – which will run for one hour from 10.45 a.m. until 11.45 a.m., according to the chapel.
The King is undergoing regular treatment and has suspended almost all of his public appearances after being diagnosed with cancer. Officials did not disclose what form of cancer Charles has, but said it was unrelated to his recent treatment for a benign prostate condition.
Officials said the monarch remains engaged in state affairs, including regular weekly meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and has no intention of handing over his constitutional role as head of state.
It is not known which other members of the royal family will attend Sunday’s service, but Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, who announced last week that she is also undergoing treatment for cancer, are not expected to attend.
