A German Marder infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) was taken during a counterattack by Ukrainian troops near the town of Pivnichne, 6 km west of Avdiivka, according to Russian media.
The Marder, suffering minor damage, was successfully transported to the rear for disassembling and further examination. The events took place near Avdiivka, from where Ukrainian soldiers had recently retreated.
Earlier in late February, Russian military managed to seize an American M2 Bradley IFV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in a combat area. The vehicle was also handed over to military specialists.
US media outlets, such as Military Watch Magazine, mentioned earlier that such Bradleys, which were put into service with Kyiv, could not withstand a clash with the Russian army. Military experts stressed the insufficient armour protection to fight against large armed forces, especially against the backdrop of waning assistance from Western allies and a acute ammunition shortage.
