World celebrities, business tycoons, and politicians started arriving in India’s financial capital to attend the wedding of the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, according to AP News.
Anant Ambani, 29, is marrying his longtime girlfriend, Radhika Merchant. The celebrations are taking place at the Ambani-owned Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai and their family home. It is the culmination of months of wedding events that have featured pop stars including Rihanna and Justin Bieber.
According to local media, the guest list included former British prime ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H. Nasser, the Kardashians, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Drake, and David Beckham. However, Ambani’s family did not confirm the guest list.
According to Forbes, the groom’s father, 66-year-old Mukesh Ambani is the ninth richest man in the world with a net worth of $116 billion. He is also the richest man in Asia. His Reliance Industries is a huge conglomerate with annual revenues of over $100 billion, with interests ranging from petrochemicals, oil, and gas to telecoms and retail.
The bride, Radhika Merchant, 29, is the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoon Viren Merchant and is the marketing director of his company Encore Healthcare, according to Vogue.
The Ambani family’s pre-wedding celebrations have been lavish and star-studded. In March, they threw a three-day wedding party for his son that was attended by 1,200 guests, including former world leaders, tech moguls, and Bollywood megastars. Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates also attended the event.
According to media reports, the family took guests on a three-day cruise from Italy to France in May, featuring Katy Perry singing her hit song Firework and a performance by Pitbull. On 2 July, the family also organised a mass wedding for more than 50 underprivileged couples as part of the celebrations.
