The EU and Canada have adopted a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) for architects’ professional qualifications, EU Reporter reports.
This important agreement is the first bilateral MRA on professional qualifications concluded by the EU. It will make it easier for architects from the EU and Canada to work in each other’s jurisdictions by simplifying the recognition of their qualifications.
The MRA will thus remove one of the main obstacles faced by EU architects wishing to work in Canada and will allow them to open up new business opportunities and export their world-class skills. In addition, European companies will have access to a new pool of Canadian professionals willing to offer their services in the EU.
The agreement represents another mutually beneficial outcome of the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). It is the first MRA under CETA and the first MRA on professional qualifications concluded by the EU.
The agreement will enter into force once the EU and Canada finalise their internal approval procedures.
