Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is ready to support 47% of Americans, according to a poll published by The Wall Street Journal.
45% of US citizens are ready to vote for the candidate from the Democratic Party Kamala Harris. Another 2% of respondents expressed support for Robert Kennedy Jr., who withdrew his candidacy and supported the Republican.
Mr. Trump has even more supporters when choosing only from two candidates – 49% against 46% for Mrs. Harris. The Republican’s performance in public office is approved by 52% of respondents, while 42% approve of the Democrat. The Democrat was ahead of the Republican by the same 2% in the August poll.
Trump’s increased focus on immigration policy amid the campaign has caught the attention of voters, with 23% naming immigration as a key issue. Trump is ahead of Harris by 12 points on the economy and 15 points on immigration.
The poll was conducted in October 19-22. About 1,500 American voters took part in it. The margin of error is estimated at 2.5 percentage points. The US presidential election will be held on November 5.
