A shooting on the campus of Tuskegee University in the US state of Alabama killed a man on Sunday, the US police said on Facebook.
Local police said in a statement:
An 18-year-old male juvenile died at the scene. A total of 16 people were injured in the incident.
The day before, there were a lot of people on the campus of the university, as it celebrated the day of the return of graduates. A social media video shows people hiding in the car park at the sound of gunshots.
Twelve victims were taken to hospitals, while four others suffered non-gunshot wounds. Officers later detained a 25-year-old man who fled the scene with a handgun modified into a machine gun.
Tuskegee University cancelled classes on Monday and said grief counsellors would be available at the university’s chapel to help students.
In September, dozens of people were injured in a shooting in the US city of Birmingham, Alabama. Two men and a woman were found without signs of life at the scene, while another patient could not be saved in hospital.
