Francois Bayrou faces record-low approval ratings

Francois Bayrou, the new Prime Minister of France, has started his term with historically low approval ratings.

According to Le Figaro, 66 per cent of French citizens criticise Bayrou’s leadership. The French Institute for Public Opinion Research (IFOP) reported that this is the lowest initial rating for any prime minister since the role began in 1959.

His predecessors achieved better results. In 2024, Gabriel Attal ended his tenure with 46 per cent dissatisfaction. Michel Barnier concluded his term with 55 per cent.

Bayrou’s poor ratings reveal widespread public dissatisfaction. His administration faces significant challenges in addressing France’s political complexities.
