Four dead in turkish hospital helicopter crash

A helicopter crashed into a hospital in southwestern Turkey on Sunday, resulting in four fatalities, according to the provincial governor. The governor attributed the incident to thick fog at the time of the crash.

The helicopter reportedly struck the fourth floor of the hospital during takeoff, which led to its descent. The victims included two pilots, a doctor, and a hospital employee, as confirmed by Mugla’s governor, Idris Akbiyik.

Governor Akbiyik noted that there was a dense fog at the time of the accident and added that investigations were underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The helicopter had taken off from the hospital roof in Mugla, heading towards Antalya, under challenging visibility conditions. Footage from NTV showed the helicopter manoeuvring through the fog minutes after takeoff before crashing into a nearby empty field, just outside the hospital.

This tragic incident follows another fatal accident earlier in the month, when two helicopters collided during a military training exercise in Isparta province, resulting in the deaths of six soldiers. The defence ministry has not disclosed the cause of that crash either.
