Iran and China strengthen strategic partnership

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson has confirmed that Iran and China are determined to strengthen their bilateral relations. Their goal is to benefit their peoples and support international peace and security.

Esmail Baghaei announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is visiting Beijing. This marks his first official trip outside the region.

Araghchi held discussions with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. Wang, who is a Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, covered a range of topics in their talks. The discussions focused on bilateral relations, regional matters, and shared international interests.

Baghaei highlighted that as comprehensive strategic partners, Iran and China aim to enhance their consultations. Their efforts seek to deepen ties, benefit their populations, and contribute to the rule of law, peace, and security on a global scale.

China remains Iran’s largest trading partner, and both nations face sanctions imposed by the United States.

In March 2021, the two countries signed a 25-year strategic partnership. This agreement reinforced their long-standing economic and political alliance.
