Kim attends factory launch ceremony, urges upsurge in regional construction

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un attended a ceremony to inaugurate factories in the southwestern county of Jaeryong, reaffirming his plan to boost the “upsurge” of regional construction, state media reported on Wednesday.

The commissioning ceremony for local industries was held under the “Regional Development 20×10 Policy.”

When Kim Jong Un arrived at the site of the commissioning ceremony, all participants exuberantly cheered and gave the highest praise and honours to the leader.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of the DPRK Cabinet Park Tae-sung, Party and government leaders, People’s Army personnel mobilised for the construction, workers and staff of local industries, workers and labourers of South Hwanghae Province and Jaeryong County.

Chu Chang Il, head of the propaganda and agitation unit of the TPC Central Committee, delivered a commissioning speech. He said that having taken the first step in the momentous New Year together with the commissioning of such modern local industry enterprises, he could not contain the strong excitement before joy.

Chu Chang Il said that the all-round development of the periphery, which has remained an ideal for nearly 80 years, has been defined as the most important political task of the Party and the state.

Kim personally cut the red ribbon symbolising the commissioning. Kim Jong Un, familiarising himself with the products of the pilot production facility, highlighted the ways and principles to be consistently followed in the operation of the local industry and production of products.

North Korean leader also discussed with the leading cadres accompanying him to take a series of measures for the Party and the Government to continue to promote and provide strong assistance to this endeavour in order to guarantee the prospective development of the local industry.
