Serbian Prime Minister considers resignation

Serbia’s Prime Minister Miloš Vučević is expected to resign today, 28 January, according to many Serbian media outlets.

Vučević is due to address the nation at 11:00 CET amid mass protests in the capital Belgrade. The latest protest lasted 24 hours, during which students and other citizens blocked one of the city’s main transport hubs.

The demonstrations broke out after the roof of a train station in the city of Novi Sad collapsed on 1 November. The incident left 15 people dead and two seriously wounded.

The students demanded the publication of complete documents on the roof reconstruction and the disclosure of names of all those responsible for the incident.
