Two Palestinians, including a child, were killed on Thursday in the central Gaza Strip amid a ceasefire agreement in the enclave, a medical source said.
2 Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire
The Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli snipers and his body was found in the Bureij refugee camp in the city of Deir al-Balah, the source said.
A child was also killed when an unexploded ordnance left by Israeli forces detonated in Nuseirat refugee camp, the source added.
The new deaths came amid an ongoing Gaza ceasefire since January 19 and a prisoner exchange agreement that halted Israel’s devastating war that has killed more than 48,200 people and reduced the enclave to rubble.
Israel detained 380 Palestinians from West Bank since Gaza ceasefire
Israeli forces have detained 380 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank since the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into force on January 19, 2025.
According to the Palestinian Captives Society, Israeli forces have intensified their attacks on the region, having initiated a large-scale operation in the town of Jenin 15 days ago. The number of detentions and raids, along with Jenin refugee camp, has also increased in the towns of Tubas and Tulkarm.
A “systematic policy of detention” is being implemented against Palestinians, and an increase in systematic crimes and brutality against detainees and convicts in prisons has also been recorded.
