Unexploded World War 2 bomb found near Gare du Nord railway station in Paris

An unexploded World War II bomb was found near the railway tracks near the Gare du Nord railway station in Paris, French media reported on Friday.

Trains at the station have been cancelled and delayed because of the dangerous find. Train services operator SNCF said traffic was halted at the request of law enforcement. Trains that were going in the direction of Paris-London cancelled, approximately until 12:09.

The bomb was discovered during work near the Northern station, 2.5 kilometres from the station, in the middle of the tracks, BFM TV reports.

Passengers whose trains were delayed were advised to postpone their journey. The international railway company did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

Gare du Nord is the third busiest railway station in the world and serves trains travelling to destinations in northern France, London, Belgium and the Netherlands, the Paris tourist office said.
