King Charles III taken to hospital after side effects from cancer treatment

Britain’s King Charles III has been admitted to hospital for observation after experiencing side effects from anti-tumour therapy on Friday, but despite his deteriorating health, the monarch continues to carry out state duties.

The 76-year-old British monarch, who has been battling cancer for more than a year, was forced to postpone all scheduled meetings. Buckingham Palace confirmed the hospitalisation, but stressed that it was preventive in nature and related to the correction of treatment.

Charles III remains aware of state affairs and continues to work with documents. Earlier, the king has stated his intention to speak as openly as possible about his illness in order to support other patients with cancer diagnoses.

The King was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024, after which he began treatment and suspended his public duties, which he returned to in April.
