Hundreds of thousands at risk of malnutrition in Gaza, US hits dozens of Houthi targets in Yemen

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Thursday that thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are experiencing severe hunger and malnutrition and that aid has not reached the region for more than three weeks.

WFP stressed that dwindling food supplies and Israel’s continued closure of border crossings are severely hampering relief efforts.

The organisation also stressed that renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza put civilians and aid workers at greater risk. This came after 10 people, including women and children, were killed in pre-dawn Israeli strikes on Gaza City and Khan Younis after Israel violated the Gaza ceasefire.

At least 30 people have been killed and 82 injured in the past 24 hours, according to hospitals in the devastated territory.

Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers and military forces continued attacks on Palestinians, with settlers storming Ras al-Ain in Qusra and the Israeli army raiding Osarin, both south of Nablus.

US hits dozens of Houthi targets in Yemen

The US has carried out airstrikes on more than 40 locations in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, according to local media affiliated with the rebel group.

Numerous residential buildings and shops were damaged in the US pre-dawn attacks on Friday in Saada, Marib, al-Jawf and Hodeidah provinces, the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah radio broadcaster said.

Other targets included Sanaa’s international airport, which is used for both civilian and military transport, and the mountainous area north of Sanaa in Amran, where military camps and other facilities are believed to be located.

At least seven people were injured across the country in the US strikes, including at least one person in Sanaa, Al Masirah reported. The report also said communication networks stopped working after the attacks.

The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM), which was authorised by the White House to launch offensive strikes in Yemen without prior approval, did not immediately confirm the raids.

The new campaign of airstrikes, which the Houthis say killed at least 57 people, began after the rebels threatened to resume shelling ships in the Red Sea because Israel has been blocking aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip for nearly a month.
