Trump considers relocating 1 million Palestinians to Libya

The Trump administration is reportedly considering relocating up to 1 million Palestinians from Gaza to Libya. Several sources familiar with the situation shared this information with NBC News.

Libyan officials have already been involved in discussions about the plan. These talks suggest the plan is under serious consideration.

In return for resettling Palestinians, the US might release billions of dollars in frozen assets to Libya. The US has blocked these funds for more than a decade, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.

So far, the administration has not reached a final decision. Still, Israel remains updated on the ongoing discussions.

Neither the State Department nor the National Security Council responded to requests for comment before the article’s publication.

After publication, a spokesperson for the administration denied the report. They stated, “These reports are inaccurate. The situation on the ground does not support such a plan. We have not discussed it, and it is not feasible.”

Basem Naim, a senior Hamas official, denied knowledge of any talks about relocating Palestinians to Libya. He emphasised, “Palestinians are deeply connected to their land. They will continue to fight for their future, families, and homeland. Only Palestinians can decide their future, including those in Gaza.”

Representatives from the Israeli government have not commented.
