Protesters returned to the streets of Los Angeles on Saturday, 7 June, following a wave of immigration raids.
The demonstrations began on Friday evening after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested 44 people for immigration offences.
In the Paramount area of southeast Los Angeles, protesters clashed with federal agents. They blocked roads with overturned shopping trolleys, set small fires, and triggered gas canisters.
The Department of Homeland Security reported that around 1,000 people gathered near a federal law enforcement building. Some individuals slashed tyres, vandalised buildings, and confronted ICE officers.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the government will deploy 2,000 National Guard troops to support arrests.
