Thousands of Spotify, Google Cloud outages reported

On Thursday evening, users from around the world complained about disruptions to a number of Google services, online marketplaces Amazon and Etsy, streaming service Spotify and others, according to Downdetector. The reports of problems began to arrive at around 9 p.m., peaking at 10 p.m.

Users reported problems with Google services such as Gmail, Cloud, Drive, Maps, and the search engine itself. There were also disruptions to social networks Discord and Snapchat, the Cloudflare service, and Zoom.

Google said it was investigating reports of problems with its services and noted that the issues had been observed since 12:58 p.m. “Our engineers are currently investigating the issue. We apologise to anyone affected by the outage,” the statement said.

Half an hour later, the company announced that all of its services had been restored, with the exception of Google Meet.

Cloudflare also announced that it had begun recovery after the outage. “We continue to expect intermittent errors in affected services as systems repeat processing and populate caches,” the statement said. There were also disruptions in the AI services Character AI and Open AI.

Users are also complaining about disruptions in a number of Google, Discord, Twitch and AI services.
