X’s CEO Yaccarino steps down in surprise move

X Corp. CEO Linda Yaccarino announced on Thursday that she is stepping down from her position after “two incredible years.”

In a statement posted on X, Yaccarino expressed her gratitude to the platform’s owner, businessman Elon Musk, for entrusting her with “protecting free speech.” She did not disclose her future plans or the reason for leaving the company.

Yaccarino highlighted her and the company’s achievements during her tenure, including a “historic business turnaround,” a focus on user safety, especially for children, and restoring trust with advertisers.

“X is truly a digital town square for all voices and the world’s most powerful culture signal. We couldn’t have achieved that without the support of our users, business partners, and the most innovative team in the world,” Yaccarino wrote.

In May, The Wall Street Journal reported that Tesla, founded by Musk, was looking for a new CEO. Due to falling profits and share prices, members of the board of directors told Musk that he “needed to spend more time” on the company’s affairs.

With Donald Trump’s arrival in power in the United States after last year’s election, the businessman took up the post of head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the government. In April, Musk and Trump concluded that “the time will soon come for everyone to return” to their respective businesses.
