World on track to achieve only 35% of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030

The United Nations has reported that only 35% of the Sustainable Development Goals are on track to be achieved by 2030.

On Monday, the UN published its 2025 Report on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This campaign aims to achieve a number of goals by 2030, including eradicating poverty and hunger, and ensuring healthy lives and quality education.

The report states that only 18% of the goals are “on track” to be achieved by 2030, while 17% have made “moderate progress.”

The UN warns that since 2019, hunger has risen sharply and remains at high levels worldwide, despite the fact that one of the goals is its complete eradication.

Speaking at the United Nations headquarters in New York, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said that global development is in a “state of emergency,” as evidenced by the fact that over 800 million people still live in extreme poverty while facing the increasingly severe impacts of climate change. He also called on the international community to act quickly and work together to achieve the goals in the remaining five years.
