Clashes between Druze and local forces intensify in Syria

After the withdrawal of the new Syrian regime’s security forces from most of the province of As Suwayda, fighting between local tribal militias and Druze intensified in the area on Friday.

The “Public Security Forces” controlled by Ahmed al-Sharaa are using this as an excuse to redeploy their forces to the region in order to regain control of the situation under the pretext of stopping the fighting between the tribes and the Druze.

On Friday morning, Israeli drones attacked four targets in the Syrian province of As Suwayda.

The video shows Israeli drone strikes on BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles and pickup trucks belonging to the new Syrian army in the province of As Suwayda.

On Thursday evening, the Syrian presidential administration issued a statement noting that illegal armed groups had committed heinous crimes against the civilian population in As Suwayda after the withdrawal of the army and internal security forces from the province, stressing that all those involved in these crimes would be held accountable.

Earlier, the Syrian Ministry of Defence reported the withdrawal of government troops from the province, the establishment of a ceasefire and the transfer of control over law and order to a commission comprising government representatives and Druze religious leaders.
