North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said that “epochal and rapid changes” must be made to existing military theory in order to expand the country’s nuclear capabilities, Korean media reported on Tuesday.
Kim made the statement during a visit to the destroyer Choe Hyon, where he observed tests of the ship’s integrated weapons control system, training exercises and the daily life of sailors.
Listening to reports from the military, the DPRK leader noted that the security situation is becoming more serious every day. In his opinion, the situation requires a momentous and rapid change in military theory.
On August 18, South Korea and the United States began their annual joint military exercises. They will be conducted according to a scenario that takes into account threats and combat experience gained from the analysis of modern military conflicts.
Earlier, Kim Yo Jong, sister of the DPRK leader, spoke about one of South Korea’s “delusional dreams.” According to her, South Korean media recently spread false statements that Russian President Vladimir Putin should convey a certain position of North Korea to US President Donald Trump. She stressed that the DPRK has “nothing to talk about with the US,” even despite the good personal relations between Kim and the White House.
