Talks in Paris: Syria, Israel discuss stability in region

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani met with an Israeli delegation in Paris to discuss stability in southern Syria. The talks were mediated by the United States and aimed at reducing tensions and maintaining the ceasefire in the province of As Suwayda, Syrian media reported on Wednesday.

Minister al-Shibani met with an Israeli delegation in the French capital on Tuesday. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a number of issues related to strengthening regional stability and security in southern Syria. The main topics of the talks were: reducing tensions, preventing interference in Syria’s internal affairs, ensuring stability and monitoring the ceasefire in the province of As Suwayda, and resuming the 1974 agreement.

The talks are being held with the support of the United States as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring security and stability in Syria, as well as preserving the country’s territorial integrity.

On August 12, al-Shibani held a meeting in Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and US Special Representative for Syria Thomas Barrack. During the discussion, the parties explored ways to strengthen co-operation and coordination between the three sides to ensure stability, sovereignty and security in the region.

Agreements were reached on the establishment of a joint Syrian-Jordanian-American working group to support the Syrian government’s efforts to strengthen the ceasefire in the province of As Suwayda and seek comprehensive solutions to resolve the crisis.
