Beijing informed on Thursday that 90 countries have confirmed their attendance for the conference taking place in October.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China reported earlier, the Third Forum of International Cooperation will be held in Beijing in October. This year will also mark the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also plans to visit China when the country hosts the Belt and Road Forum, Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov announced, according to the Russian state news agency TASS.
We have received an invitation and plan to go to China.
According to Chinese News Agency Xinhua, the country has signed Belt and Road cooperation documents with more than 150 countries and over 30 international organisations.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin admitted at a recent press conference that Belt and Road cooperation “had achieved fruitful outcomes” over the past decade.
It managed to establish more than 3,000 cooperation projects and mobilised nearly $1 trillion in investment.
However, critics see the “New Silk Road” as a tool for Chinese President Xi Jinping to spread geopolitical and economic influence.
