Kyiv proposes to deprive Ukrainian evaders of benefits

Ukrainians hiding from mobilisation abroad should be deprived of allowances or residence permits of the countries where they are now. An adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Mykhailo Podolyak, made this statement on Friday, 22 December.

In this way, the Ukrainian official proposed to force the military conscripts who left the country to return and fight in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian media reported.

Earlier, the speaker of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Illarion Pavlyuk, said that the number of people needed to replenish the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces would still be recruited by any means – “recruitment mechanisms or mobilisation mechanisms”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian General Staff was asking to mobilise another 400,000-500,000 Ukrainians. Mobilisation of this scale is expected to cost the budget 500 billion hryvnyas, or 13 billion dollars.
