“Africa’s in my heart, Africa’s in my soul,” Prince Harry says

Prince Harry expresses his deep love for Africa during a charity event in Miami, honouring the memory of his late mother, according to Daily Mail.

During one of his visits to Miami, Prince Harry explained that Africa holds a special place in his heart as his late mother, Princess Diana, inspired his charity work.

Thursday evening was a special evening organised by Sentebale, a charity co-founded with Prince Harry. The commitment to charity was the basis of the charity’s name Sentebale, which means “fogert me not” in the country’s local language. Despite, news of his involvement was not made public until the following day.

During his speech, the Duke of Sussex expressed his deep affection for Africa, stating, “Africa’s in my heart, Africa’s in my soul,” by recalling his first visit to the continent at the age of 12 or 13.

“I first went there when I was 12, 13 years old, and after so many years, I wanted to give back to it because it had given me so much. The vast open space, the cultures, the community, the people, the wildlife, just the freedom was a huge piece of why I loved Africa so much,” he recalled.

The 39-year-old Duke also paid tribute to Princess Diana’s work to promote HIV and AIDS in Africa. He emphasised Sentebale’s core belief as follows: “Every single young person should have a chance at a better future”

Also, Prince Harry won a Polo match. The Royal Salute Polo Challenge, where Harry helmed the team, and won the match aims to support Sentebale’s work with vulnerable children in Lesotho, Botswana, and Malawi, who are affected by extreme poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The latest Polo event, organised by the Grand Champions Polo Club in Palm Beach, came shortly after it was announced that Prince Harry is starting work on a Netflix series about professional polo players.

Meghan Markle, who was absent from the event, is working on her own non-fiction series for the streaming giant, with whom the couple have a five-year production deal, signed in 2020 and valued at around $100 million.
