The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, announced on Monday evening that it bombed Tel Aviv with a rocket salvo in response to the massacres of civilians in the Gaza Strip, Arab media reported.
The Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed in a military statement that they “bombed Tel Aviv with a rocket salvo in response to the Zionist massacres of civilians,” Sama news agency reported. Sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, Lod and Ramla.
Israel Radio reported that eight rockets were fired from Gaza towards Tel Aviv some time ago.
The Home Front Command said that sirens sounded in more than 30 locations across the periphery and centre of Palestine after a rocket salvo from Gaza.
Israel launched its war in Gaza on 7 October, after Hamas carried out a surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm. As a result of the Hamas military offensive on 7 October, some 1,200 Israelis were killed and 240 were taken hostage.
In response, the Israeli army launched regular air and artillery strikes, killing more than 23,000 Palestinians and wounding nearly 59,000. Thousands more are missing and presumed dead under rubble in Gaza, which is under Israel’s “total siege” in the Gaza Strip.
