Al-Rantisi Specialised Hospital for Children, located in the western Gaza Strip, stopped operating on Thursday after its generators ran out of fuel. As a result, 38 Palestinian children suffering from kidney failure were left in grave danger, according to Anadolu Ajansı.
Ashraf Al-Qudra, a spokesman for Gaza’s Health Ministry, claimed that intensive care units and kindergartens would continue to operate, powered by small generators.
Thirty-eight children suffering from kidney failure are deprived of dialysis services after the Al-Rantisi Specialized Hospital for Children, the only hospital specialized for children in the Gaza Strip, stopped as it ran out of fuel.
Earlier that day, Al-Qudra announced the cessation of all medical services for children in Al-Rantisi and Al-Nasr hospitals due to fuel shortages. Palestinian Health Minister Mai Alkaila had previously announced the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip at the ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah.
“The collapse means that from today, all the wounded, including children, women and the elderly, will lose treatment services and that cancer patients will be without medications or chemotherapy sessions and kidney patients will be deprived of dialysis sessions. Hundreds of premature babies are in danger, and thousands of wounded people will have open wounds.”
Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, at least 10,569 Palestinians have been killed, including 4,324 children and 2,823 women. Official figures put the death toll in Israel at nearly 1,600.
