Amazon is developing AI-based software that will enable humanoid robots to deliver orders.
According to sources, the company has completed construction of a “humanoid park” in San Francisco. It is equipped with an obstacle course where the robots will be tested.
In particular, they plan to teach them to “get into the back of a Rivian van and get out of it” to deliver packages to the door. It is not clear when the company plans to start training.
Amazon will test its software on different robot models, including devices from Chinese start-up Unitree, which cost $16,000.
At the same time, Amazon announced the creation of a new team that will work on developing warehouse robots controlled by “agent AI.” They will understand commands in natural language and will also be able to “communicate with each other to perform various tasks.” The company did not disclose any further details.
Amazon already uses various robot models in its distribution centres. For example, they sort orders, load and move goods within warehouses.
