On Friday, more than 20 soldiers were killed during an Artillery Day ceremony in the village of Zaporizhzhia, close to the front line, according to Reuters.
Shortly after the information spread much wider, Ukraine’s defence minister on Saturday ordered a “full investigation” into the alleged Russian ballistic missile attack on a Ukrainian airborne brigade.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov also expressed condolences to all the families of the victims.
My condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers from the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade.
Previously, some telegram channels published information and photo-video confirmations that the Russian army struck a cluster of Ukrainian soldiers with Iskander ballistic missile. Ukraine’s Armed Forces confirmed this information.
Servicemen were killed, and local residents were also injured.
In daily reports on the fighting, the Russian Defence Ministry reported only minor details, such as that Russian forces “inflicted fire” on a Ukrainian assault brigade unit in the area, killing up to 30 soldiers.
