The herd of animal puppets will make a march from West Africa to Europe to raise awareness of climate change – BBC informs.
The journey will start in West Africa in the spring of 2025, and will pick up more and more puppets along the way. The puppets will be controlled by different groups of people.
Artist Amir Nizar Zuabi, the creator of Little Amal, a 3.5 metre tall Syrian girl puppet that was designed to attract the attention of refugees, has now set up a migrating herd eventually to consist of 12 puppets, including a giant elephant and a huge giraffe.
He wants to recreate a mass animal migration similar to what happens in the Serengeti, in Tanzania, as once a year millions of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles and impalas cross into Tanzania. The wild animals that give birth to cubs are usually the first to leave, followed by the rest of the animals.
In this manner, the artist hopes to draw attention to climate change, especially how it affects animals around the world.
Scientists have noticed that with changing weather and more extreme temperatures, animals are starting to move at different times.
