Arab parliament reviews regional developments

The Arab Parliament met on Saturday for its general session, chaired by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi. Representatives from the Iraqi Parliament also took part. The session was held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo. Discussions focused on political, security, social, legal, and human rights issues in the region.

In his address, Al-Yamahi called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to act swiftly. He urged the Council to condemn and stop Israel’s ongoing violations in Syria. These actions include the occupation of Syrian land, the destruction of military infrastructure, and efforts to prevent Syria from regaining its stability and territorial integrity.

“We are monitoring the developments in Syria closely,” Al-Yamahi said. “We call on all Syrian parties to protect state institutions, prioritise the country’s best interests, and focus on dialogue and wisdom at this critical time in Syria’s history.”

Al-Yamahi also mentioned a recent meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament. The committee, which included the UNRWA representative, Palestine’s ambassador to the Arab League, and a representative for the Palestinian sector, reviewed recent steps to support Palestine. The session discussed further actions that the Arab Parliament could take through parliamentary diplomacy.
