Argentine president to back Spanish VOX leader ahead of EU elections

Argentine President Javier Milei will travel to Madrid in May to publicly support Spain’s VOX leader Santiago Abascal ahead of the EU elections, Euractiv reports.

Milei confirmed on Friday that he would be attending VOX’s annual convention to support Abascal’s party days before their EU election campaign began.

There I will be with you again, dear friend…! Viva la libertad […]

In his statement, Milei stated that he was proud to support Abascal, which he said “brings together global voices promoting the ideas of freedom.” The latter attended Argentina’s presidential inauguration on 10 December.

The latest Europe Elects polls show a tough battle between the Renew Europe and Identity and Democracy (ID) groups for third place after the European People’s Party (EPP) and the socialist S&D group.
