Armenia and Iran discussed the situation in the Caucasus region

According to the press service of the Armenian government, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ibrahim Raisi had a telephone conversation, MEHR News Agency reported.

During the conversation, leaders of the countries discussed Caucasus issues. They touched upon such topics as Karabakh humanitarian crisis and growing tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border.

Mr. Pashinyan noted that the country strictly follows the Prague agreements of October 6, 2022 and the Brussels agreements of May 14, 2023. He also emphasised that Armenia resolved emerging issues and disputes exclusively through diplomatic methods.

The Armenian leader has claimed he is ready to work to reduce tensions between neighboring countries. He confirms his intentions by agreeing to hold urgent negotiations with the leader of Azerbaijan.
