Representatives of the foreign ministries of Armenia and Belgium held joint political consultations on Thursday.

The talks were held by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and Director-General for Bilateral Relations of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Birgit Stevens, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.

The parties discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda and expressed mutual interest in further expanding co-operation. Kostanyan emphasised the importance of developing bilateral ties through the implementation of new strategic directions.

The meeting also looked at steps to deepen the comprehensive and ambitious partnership between Armenia and the EU. The active interaction between the parties on international platforms was particularly noted. Kostanyan informed the Belgian side about the current progress in the normalisation of relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey, confirming Armenia’s commitment to a peaceful settlement and good-neighbourly relations.

In addition, on Wednesday, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Belgian House of Representatives approved a resolution on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasising the need for peace in the South Caucasus. The document expresses support for the Armenian initiative “Crossroads of Peace,” aimed at strengthening regional co-operation and stability.
