Austria has no intention of becoming NATO member, Austrian FM says

Austria does not intend and does not plan to join the North Atlantic Alliance, but does not refuse possible cooperation with some NATO members, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said, speaking in the Austrian National Council on Tuesday, the official portal of the parliament quoted him as saying.

Schallenberg stated:

Our goal is to exchange information together with Ireland, Malta and Switzerland and to make neutral states visible, we do not want to be forgotten.

Earlier, Schallenberg confirmed that Austria would continue to adhere to neutrality, which implies the impossibility of sending military, weapons or ammunition to Ukraine, while noting that Austria “has always been militarily neutral, but not neutral in opinion”.
