On Sunday morning, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, arrived in the Iranian capital of Tehran, leading a high-level delegation from his party, according to Shafaq.
The purpose of Talabani’s visit is a series of “important” meetings with officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Shafaq News reports.
Lately, Qasim al-Araji, the national security adviser of Iraq, reported that Baghdad is making a great effort to implement the provisions of the security agreement with Iran. He said:
“We emphasize our desire to strengthen relations between the two neighboring countries in a way that benefits the nation and the country and strengthens stability and security in the region.”
Most recently, a tripartite agreement was signed between the leadership of Tehran, Baghdad and Erbil on the expulsion of separatist Kurdish terrorists from Iraqi Kurdistan to the western regions of the country, the Almutalee website reports.
