Barack Obama endorses Harris for president in 2024 US election

Former US President Barack Obama has announced his support for Kamala Harris’ candidacy for the US presidential election.

Obama stated that Harris has his full support and will be a “fantastic president.” He wrote on his X:

“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.”

Harris also posted a conversation with Barack and Michelle on her page on X. She said:

“It means so much to have your support.”

During the call, the former US president said he and Michelle called Harris to express their pride. Obama said:

“[We] support you and we’re doing everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.”

Speaking immediately after Joe Biden declined to run, Barack Obama did not endorse any of the other candidates. He pointed out that “Joe never gave up the fight,” adding that Biden’s decision was one of the “most difficult challenges of his life” for the US president.
