US President Joe Biden has got into another ridiculous situation, frozen on stage during a meeting with voters in Los Angeles, US media reported.
Mr. Biden, 81, was helped off the stage by Barack Obama to applause from the audience at a theatre in Los Angeles.
Mr. Biden looked motionless and stared blankly into the crowd before he was gently brought to his feet by Mr. Obama. They then left the stage together, with Mr. Obama patting Joe Biden on the back. The incident took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, where Biden raised $28 million.
The latest incident comes just days after Mr. Biden distracted G7 leaders by turning his face the wrong way while talking to someone behind a group of world leaders at the G7 summit in Italy. Earlier this month in France at a celebration marking the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, the American president tried to sit on a chair that wasn’t there after speaking on stage.
Trump leads in polls
According to the latest polls, Donald Trump would win the US election if it were held tomorrow, with Trump winning seven key states.
According to the Real Clear Politics poll, Trump leads by more than five points in North Carolina and Nevada and has a small lead in Wisconsin and Michigan, which Biden won in 2020.
Mr. Biden’s critics and Donald Trump’s allies have seized on the video, using it as ammunition to argue that the president is unfit for office.
But the White House rejected the criticism, saying the video was edited to make the president look worse. The video, shot from a distance in the audience, shows the president standing perfectly still before Obama takes his hand and helps him head towards the exit of the stage, patting him on the back.
Biden and Trump will meet in the highly anticipated first presidential debate in less than two weeks.
