Biden summarised his administration’s work on world stage

The incumbent US leader Joe Biden delivered his latest foreign policy speech on Monday, a week before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

“Most dynamic economy”

During his speech, Biden revealed many details and reasons for his administration of the country. He stated that America’s adversaries have become weaker during the four years of his presidency despite the ongoing global crises.

Biden added that during his presidency, the US has increased the number of allies “to unprecedented levels” and built “the most dynamic economy in the world.”

Biden on Ukraine

One of the key statements was Biden’s admission that Washington, while supporting Kyiv in its standoff with Moscow, was aware of the risks of a nuclear confrontation with Russia.

He also argues that the US and its allies cannot afford to withdraw their support for Kiev and must continue to assist it. Biden stated:

“There’s more to do. We can’t walk away.”

According to Biden, he “laid the groundwork” for the future Donald Trump administration on the issue of supporting Ukraine. Biden also expressed the opinion that thanks to him the next administration could provide the people of Ukraine with a “bright future.”

Troop withdrawal from Afghanistan

Joe Biden said that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan was the right decision. At the same time, the politician did not tell how unsuccessful it was. He emphasised:

“Ending the war was the right thing to do and I believe history will reflect that.”

The head of state noted the courage of American soldiers who served in Afghanistan. He added that he mourned the victims, including those Americans who died “in the course of withdrawal” from Afghanistan.

Confronting China

Speaking at the State Department, Biden said the United States has not entered new wars, but its position on the world stage has strengthened. In his view, the US is “winning the global competition,” and despite initial predictions, China will not surpass the US economically. Despite his claims of “victories” against adversaries such as Iran, Biden has faced protests, including outside the State Department building where he was condemned for supporting Israel in its conflict with Palestine.

In Biden’s view, to stabilise and integrate the Middle East, Trump will have to deal primarily with fighting the Islamic State terrorist group and preventing Tehran from having nuclear weapons.

In his farewell speech Biden tried to show only pluses and achievements of his presidency. Or rather, he tried to turn even the most global blunders of the Democrats into these achievements.

Last November, the US presidential election was held, and the Republican candidate Donald Trump won it. He managed to get 312 electoral votes, while 270 was enough to win.

Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20. He will become the 47th president of the United States, and before that he was also the 45th. Along with Trump, future US Vice President J.D. Vance will also be sworn in.
