BMX freestyle world champion robbed on his way to Paris, athletes complain of poor conditions

Australia’s Logan Martin, the first-ever Olympic BMX freestyle champion, was robbed in Belgium shortly before leaving for the Paris Games, Fdesouche reports.

Martin posted a video from the scene and said that the robbers broke the window of the van and stole his personal belongings: backpack, wallet and equipment. A physiotherapists massage table also disappeared from the vehicle.

Thanks to tracking devices, Martin and his team later found some items scattered in a local park. Martin said:

Thankfully my bikes weren’t there, although my bike bags were there with some stuff. What a crazy start to the ride.

The Australian won the Tokyo 2020 gold medal to become the first Olympic champion in the men’s BMX freestyle discipline.

Meanwhile, Athletes of the Swedish table tennis team complain about the buses provided at the Olympics in Paris.

Athletes say that there is no air conditioning inside, and the buses are overcrowded, some of them have to stand. One of the coaches told the media that Paris is worse than India.

The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11. The men’s BMX freestyle competition will take place on July 30-31.
